Now that Boonville is in its final year of North Central Missouri Conference competition, once the 2017-18 school year has come to a close, so will a wealth of on-field rivalries, even if the memories will live on through those who lived, coached and watched them.

For head coach Haley Schafer and the Mexico varsity girls soccer team, after making the journey out to Boonville on Monday to face the Lady Pirates in league play, those memories might not be all that great in hindsight. In fact, playing the Lady Pirates might just be a completely forgetable experience all together after traveling there earlier this week and ending up on the wrong side of a 7-0 decision.

"The score doesn’t show how dominate this Boonville team can be. Working as a unit and communicating as a unit helped Mexico hold Boonville to only 3-0 at the half," said Schafer. "I am very impressed at how the team approached this game and really stepped up to the challenge. There is work to be done but this feels like a step forward."

Making 26 saves for the Lady Bulldogs was Nayeli Ruiz.

The Mexico JV also lost to Boonville 6-0.

The squad next takes the field in NCMC action at Fulton on Thursday.
