Despite the fact some varsity athletic contests didn't take place on Monday because of the wind and low temperatures, that didn't stop the Mexico girls soccer team from taking the bus to Marshall for a North Central Missouri Conference game.
The conditions might not have been ideal, but thats what makes athletics an extension of the learning process, and even if the condition's didn't do the Lady Bulldogs any favors, Payton Bledsoe did end up standing tall when it was all said and done with 11 saves. But, even though Sophie McKeown and Rosanna McKeown also charted goals and Lilly Knipfel had an assist, victory just wasn't in the cards for Mexico that day as it ended up losing at Marshall 6-2
The Lady Bulldogs JV was also defeated 2-1. Scoring for her squad was Kamile Reynolds.
Mexico, 1-8, is at Father Tolton today and Warrenton on Friday, both of which are nonleague matchups, prior to hosting Kirksville on Monday in NCMC competition.
