Mexico High School senior Sarah Kasubke is not new to being involved. The 17-year-old is a member of the Dixie Gray Band, Chamber Choir and Lady Bulldogs golf team, just to name a few. She also teaches dance at Janet’s Dance Studio. She will add a new task to her list this June — competing for the title of Miss Missouri’s Outstanding Teen.
Q: What is your hometown?
A: My hometown is Mexico, Missouri. I was born and raised here and love the people and this small town with my whole heart.
Q: Have you competed in this event before? If so, when?
A: This is my fourth year competing for the title of Miss Missouri’s Outstanding Teen. I have been Miss St. Joseph’s Outstanding Teen 2015 , Miss Pony Express’ Outstanding Teen 2016, Miss Audrain’s Outstanding Teen 2017 and I am currently Miss Zona Rosa’s Outstanding Teen 2018.
Q: How did you get started doing pageants?
A: My mom has been a hostess during Miss Missouri week for as long as I can remember and I grew up around the pageant. It was always my favorite week in the summer and at the age of four I knew I wanted to become Miss Missouri. I began as a little sister in the Miss Missouri pageant at the age of six and was involved for eight years in that phase of the program. I had three amazing role models: Emily Jones, Lindsey Rich and Mary Bauer. Through their examples, I learned to love the Miss America organization and knew I wanted to compete when I became old enough. At the age of eleven, I competed in my first pageant and won the title of Miss Audrain’s Young Miss.
Q: What made you decide to compete in the pageant this year?
A: I have enjoyed competing for the title of Miss Missouri’s Outstanding Teen the past three years and knew I wanted to be back on the Miss Missouri stage again this year.
Q: What are your goals for the coming weeks?
A: My major goal is to be the best version of myself that I can possibly be during Miss Missouri week. I believe that the pageant is about personal growth, not competing with the other contestants, I have seen this throughout my journey the past three years. I also look forward to spending a week with some of my best friends and forming friendships with new contestants.
Q: One thing you would like others to know about the Miss Missouri/Miss Missouri's Outstanding Teen pageant?
A: The Miss Missouri’s Outstanding Teen pageant is a scholarship program that allows teenagers to showcase their talent, fitness, platform and intellect. I am the person I am today because of this organization. I have gained confidence, poise and a passion to serve others through my years of involvement in MMOT. I am so proud to have the Miss Missouri pageant held in my hometown and am extremely grateful to all the volunteers who give their time and efforts to make this pageant a success every year.
