The Audrain County Commission has hired Nicholas Tietsort for the position of Emergency Management Director (EMD) for Audrain County, according to a news release.

Tietsort will begin his duties July 16. He has been employed in law enforcement for 12 years and most recently served with the Audrain County Sheriff’s Department for seven years.

“The EMD position is very important for Audrain County,” said Presiding Commissioner Steve Hobbs. “Nicholas will work to make sure that we, as a county and residents of Audrain County, are prepared in the event of an emergency or natural disaster.”

The main priority of this role “will be (to continue) to build and strengthen those relationships (with emergency service providers and people in the county) so that people of our county can be best served in emergency preparedness,” said Associate Commissioner Alan Winders.

Tietsort lives with his family in Mexico. He said he is “excited to get started” and continue to serve the county in a new way.
