Stanley F. Erdel, 68, of Columbia, formerly of Mexico, passed away at 10:57 p.m. on Thursday, August 2, 2018 at Lenoir Woods in Columbia.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 12 noon on Wednesday, August 8, at St. Brendan Catholic Church with Fr. Dylan Schrader officiating. Burial will follow in St. Brendan Cemetery.
Visitation is Wednesday from 10 a.m. until time of funeral at the church.
Stan was born July 20, 1950 in Mexico, the son of Leo F. and Julia Mae (Paden) Erdel. On February 3, 1973 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Monroe City, he married Mildred Elliott. She survives.
Mr. Erdel was a graduate of Mexico High School and Southwest Missouri State University. Early in his career, he was a Juvenile Officer for the 12th Circuit. He later co-founded Erdel and Wood in Mexico.
He was a member of St. Brendan Catholic Church, where he was a musician. He also played with a local talent group called the “Crossfires”. Stan had a charismatic presence about him that would put people at ease and he never knew a stranger. He will be missed.
Survivors include his wife, Millie Erdel of Columbia; one daughter, Portia (Jason) Leverett of Mexico; one son, Elliott (Angie) Erdel of Columbia; six grandchildren, Quinn, Kale and Prim Leverett, and Carter, Harley, and Dalton Erdel; one sister, Janice (Noel) Wood of Lake Ozark; and a nephew, Brently (Stephanie) Wood of Lake Ozark.
Stan was preceded in death by his parents.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the donor’s choice.
