Over the summer the Community R-6 varsity softball team experienced some true growing pains while getting used to the fact head coach Haley Nobis had resigned and Madison Henke was in the process of taking over.
Well, apparently that learning curve has been straightened out because since then the Lady Trojans have been hitting on all cylinders, which includes hosting Glasgow on Monday for their first ever game as a member of the Capitol Activities Conference, which they won 24-0.
"It was a great start for everyone especially our pitcher, Emma Angel, with her first shut out this year and our catcher, Emmi Johnson, was 4-4 on offense," said Henke. "As a team, we were putting the ball in play and being aggressive on the bases. I hope we continue this for our game on Thursday against Herman and throughout our season."
The JV team also defeated Glasgow 15-3. This comes after ending the preseason last Tuesday at the Montgomery County Jamboree by defeating Silex, Elsberry and the host Lady Wildcats.
CR-6, 1-0 overall, 1-0 CAC, is at Pilot Grove on Sept. 4, on Sept. 7 the team hosts Silex and the Lady Trojans travel to the New Franklin Tournament on Sept. 8
