At the annual Mexico Area Chamber of Commerce Agricultural Appreciation Dinner Saturday Clarence and Janis Deimeke were the recipients of the Dale H. Schnarre Rural Citizen Award for 2008.
The Deimekes own and operate a 1,700-acre grain farm and background and finish approximately 700 head of cattle a year along with his brother Larry and son Keith.
Clarence Deimeke currently serves on the Martinsburg Bank board, is an active member of St. Joseph’s Knights of Columbus where he has served as Grand Knight and is a past board member of the Martinsburg Fire Department.
He recently helped publicize the epidemic of copper wire theft. He was quoted in various newspapers regarding the theft of copper wire from their irrigation equipment. With his help more stringent legislation was passed that has aided in curbing copper theft.
Janis Deimeke is active in Audrain County Farm Bureau serving as president since 2006. She served on the Missouri Farm Bureau State Promotion and Education Committee from 2004-06. She has also served on the Farm Bureau State Resolution Committee. In 2006, she was appointed by Gov. Matt Blunt to serve a four-year term on the Citizens’ Advisory Com-mission for Marketing Missouri Agricultural Products. She has volunteered with the Community R-6 FFA program and the St. Joseph School children’s choir. She is currently the deputy recorder of deeds for Audrain County.
The Deimekes are active members of Audrain County Cattlemen’s Association and St. Joseph Catholic Church, as well as members of the Mexico Elks and the Mexico Area Chamber of Commerce.
The Deimekes are parents of three sons, Bryan, Keith and Scott.
