There was a time in the not-too-distant past that paying $3.17 a gallon for gasoline was considered expensive. Now residents are pleased to see the price reduced to $3.17 from the cost of $3.51 three weeks ago and as high as $3.98 this summer. On Sept. 13, the price for a gallon of gasoline at Break Time on Monroe Street in Mexico was $3.50. On Wednesday, the price at the same station was $3.17, and ranged from $3.17 to $3.24 throughout Mexico. Motorists lined up to buy gas Wednesday before the price increases again.
