ST. LOUIS (AP) — After a long battle with the Missouri Gaming Commission, Pinnacle Entertainment has agreed to close the aging President Casino on the St. Louis riverfront by July 1, making available a valuable gaming license.
The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reported that the Gaming Commission today accepted Pinnacle’s offer to close the casino. Calls seeking comment from Pinnacle and the Gaming Commission were not returned.
The announcement comes just a week after Las Vegas-based Pinnacle won a court battle over efforts to keep open the President. The Missouri Court of Appeals ruled that the commission acted improperly in deciding that Pinnacle could neither repair nor replace the President. The issue was sent back to the Gaming Commission.
