ST. LOUIS (AP) – Snow melt and recent rains have the Mississippi and Missouri rivers rising, along with their tributaries, prompting flood warnings in some parts of Missouri.
The National Weather Service projects that the Mississippi will climb above flood stage in Canton, Hannibal, Louisiana and Clarksville starting today. No major problems are expected. The river is expected to crest early next week a couple of feet above flood stage in each town.
Minor flooding is also projected at some towns on the Missouri, including Waverly, Glasgow and Boonville.
The Fabius, Grand and Platte rivers are also at or near flood stage.
The Weather Service has predicted that significant flooding is possible this spring.
