KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) – The future of the Big 12 Conference was uppermost on everyone's mind today at what could be the league's most important meetings since it was formed in 1996.
At stake is possible conference realignment. The Big Ten Conference, which can potentially offer more money than the Big 12, has indicated it might invite Nebraska and Missouri to join.
There also have been reports that Colorado could be looking at the Pac-10 and Texas and Oklahoma might be checking out their options.
No one expects anything to be decided in the Big 12's four-day meetings that began today. But Texas athletic director DeLoss Dodds said all 12 schools will be trying hard to figure out their options if the league does break up.
