BUTLER, Mo. (AP) – A Kansas man who died in a skydiving accident in Bates County, Mo., was a veteran jumper and instructor who had more than 1,300 jumps.
Forty-year-old Russell Elliott, of Kansas City, Kan., died Saturday while practicing a stunt with three other skydivers. Their parachutes became entangled and Elliott was unable to open his reserve parachute.
The Kansas City Star reports that Elliott was a coach, tandem master and aerial videographer, among other things, at Missouri River Valley Skydivers, owner Tom Dolphin said.
Elliott was currently working to form a team to compete in aerial formations at the national or world level.
His wife, Ginger, is pregnant with the couple's first child.
