BROWNVILLE, Neb. (AP) – The Missouri Transportation Department says it is planning to close the U.S. Highway 136 bridge into southeast Nebraska for construction work the weekend of Sept. 17-19.
The closure will block traffic on U.S. Highway 136 between the Nebraska town of Brownville and the Missouri towns of Phelps City and Rock Port.
According to KLZA-FM, the department says the bridge will close at 6 p.m. Sept. 17 and reopen on Sept. 19 — sooner, if the work is completed.
The contractor will be adding steel plates to the bottom of the existing beams.
