Virgil A. Young, 87, of Mexico, died at 8:42 p.m., Sunday February 25, 2018, at Pin Oaks Living Center in Mexico.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. on Wednesday February 28th, 2018, at Pickering Funeral Home with Pastor Joseph Pike officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday from 1 p.m to service time. Graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Mount Lebanon Cemetery in St. Louis.
Virgil was born October 30, 1930, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, the son of Boyd and Neva Mariam (Lovelace) Young.
He was a veteran and served in the US Army.
Virgil spent 17 years working at McDonald Aircraft in St. Louis. He later moved to Mexico and farmed. He was a member of First Baptist Church.
Survivors include two nieces, Rebecca Meyer and husband Richard, High Hill, Mo. Michelle Wyatt and husband Robert, New Florence, Mo; two nephews, Joseph Young and wife Brenda, Montgomery City, Mo., and Michael V. A. Young and wife Kay, Jonesburg, Mo.; and several great nieces and nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Boyd Kent Young.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be given to First Baptist Church or to the charity of the donor’s choice. They may be sent in care of Pickering Funeral Home, 403 N. Western, Mexico, MO 65265.
As part of his obituary, Virgil wanted to thank Don Brooks and Karen Brooks, Bill Robinette, Dan Mason, Phil Becker and Dennis Becker, and Mike Orr, and all their families for being good friends and helping him along the way.
