Jean Gifford, 94, of Mexico, died Monday, February 19, 2018 at Kings Daughters Home in Mexico.
Funeral services will be held on Friday at 1:30 p.m. at Arnold Funeral Home with Rev. Phyllis Hart officiating. Burial will follow at Walnut Grove Cemetery in Paris, MO. Visitation is Thursday evening from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Jean was born on Feb. 28, 1923 in Paris, MO, the daughter of Harry and Edna Lindsey. She married William A. Gifford, Jr. on April 24, 1943 in Hannibal, MO and he preceded her in death on Oct. 28, 2011.
She worked for Producer’s Grain Company and later she and her husband Junior ran the Dairy Pride in the late 60’s, then S & S Gourmet and later they owned and operated Gifford’s Cafeteria.
She loved the color red, square dancing and enjoyed working at Walmart as a greeter for 15 years. She was an active member of Liberty Christian Church for many years.
She is survived by a son Harvey Gifford of Thompson and her best friend Jeanne Clayton Emerson of Mexico.
