Marilyn Hart passed away on February 23, 2018 at home surrounded by family.
Graveside services will be held at East Lawn Memorial Park on Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. with visitation an hour before the service at the cemetery.
She was born on the family farm to Randolph and Virginia Ford on April 6, 1928. Marilyn's mother died when Marilyn was ten months old.
She graduated from Elsberry High School and Gem City Business College. Her first job was at Stark Bros. Nursery in the office in Louisiana, Mo. Later she moved to Mexico and worked as a stenographer at A.P. Green Fire Brick Company for several years.
On October 1, 1950 she married Vernon D. Hart. They had 63 ½ happy years until his death in 2014. To this union 3 children were born. She is survived by Randy, Dianne, Susan and her sons Drew and Eric, as well as a sister-in-law Candace, and a brother-in-law Robert.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her stepmother Ruby Richards Ford and her husband Vernon.
Marilyn loved to cook and enjoyed having family and friends in for dinner on many occasions during the year. She also was an avid reader. She and her family enjoyed going on summer vacations and camping trips. She especially loved her grandsons and the cookie jar was always full when she knew they were coming to see Grandma and Grandad.
She was a long-time member of First Baptist Church and had been a pre-school Sunday school teacher and VBS worker for many years. Along with her husband she was also a member of the Mexico Artist's Guild for many years.
