Carol Ann Hird Heivilin of Thomasville, Ga. died at the age of 68 on Saturday, July 17 at Archbold Hospital. She was a  devoted wife, beloved mother, and wonderful grandmother.   
Carol was born January 19, 1942 in Cuba City, Wis. She was the daughter of the late Wilbur Hird and Genevieve Hird. She married Fred George Heivilin on December 19, 1964. Carol was an R.N. and  graduate of  Saint Mary’s School of Nursing, Milwaukee Wis. Carol’s nursing career spanned over two decades and included Madison General Hospital Rehabilitation Unit (WI), Mullenberg Hospital Intensive Care Unit (NJ), and Barbour County Hospital Emergency Room (AL). Carol retired from Oil - Dri after working 14 years as the Health and Safety Manager. She loved to garden, read, travel, and stitch needle work of all types. She was  co owner of the downtown boutique - Next To You. Carol was an avid antiques collector/ dealer. Her collectibles, Forget-Me-Not Antiques and Buttontiques, were sold online and in antique malls from Havana, Fla. to South Georgia, most recently  - Toscoga.
Through the years, Carol actively participated in many organizations in the states where she and her family resided (WI, NJ, MO, AL, MI, GA). She was a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church. She was a member of the Eufaula Jaycee Wives and president of the Mexico Missouri Jaycee Wives. She enjoyed her participation in The Thomasville Arts Guild, as a parent volunteer with the Music and Drama Troup, a member of The National Button Society, a Blood Drive volunteer and CPR instructor with the Red Cross, member of the Newcomers Club, Garden Club, and March of Dimes.
Carol is survived by her husband Fred Heivilin, daughters Michelle Heivilin - Kimbler and Julie Heivilin - Coppinger, son-in-law Sean Coppinger, grandchildren Alex Kimbler, Arianna Kimbler, Carolyn Coppinger and Eric Coppinger, brother Lyle Hird and sister Pauline Hird Bogaski. She was preceded in death by her premature twin daughters; Leslie Ann and Lisa Marie Heivilin.  Siblings preceding her are Charles Hird, Joseph Hird, and Rose Hird -Gille.
On Tuesday, July 20, the  rosary and prayers will be said at 6:30 p.m. followed by visitation at 7 p.m., Whiddon-Shiver Funeral Home. The Memorial Mass will be held at 10 a.m., Wednesday, July 21, St. Augustine Catholic Church.  Fred Heivilin together with his family will be receiving guests in his home throughout the week.

The family wishes to acknowledge the great medical care provided by Dr. Reams, Dr. Ellis, Dr. Santos and all the CCU nurses and therapists at Archbold.
