Agnes Gerling
Agnes Huhman Gerling, 89 of Mexico, died Saturday, Sept. 13, 2008 at Presbyterian Manor in Fulton.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Brendan Catholic Church with Fr. John Schmitz and Fr. Greg Oligschlaeger officiating. Burial will follow at St. Brendan Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday evening from 5-7 at the Arnold Funeral Home. A rosary will be recited at 6:45 p.m. Tuesday.
She was born on Oct. 8, 1918 in Osage Bend, the daughter of Frank and Emilia (Kraus) Huhman. On June 29, 1946 she married Hubert T. Gerling in Wardsville. He preceded her in death on Jan. 18, 2003.
Agnes was primarily a homemaker but she was also a licensed beautician and had worked at Audrain Medical Center. She was a member of St. Brendan Catholic Church, the Ladies Sodality, and Senior Citizens.
Survivors include her children, Julia Long and Jim of Holts Summit, Emily Sue Clark of Shawnee Mission, Kan., Mary Rose Farris and David of Poplar Bluff, Thomas Gerling and Melissa of Columbia, and Michael Gerling and Karen of Wildwood. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Kristan Van Donge and Tim, Jennifer Calcagni and Justin, Todd Clark, Julie Ferguson and Josh, Katherine Spellman and Andy, Matthew, Allison, and Sarah Gerling and three great-grandchildren, Ashley and Christopher Van Donge and Jack Ferguson.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by seven brothers and five sisters.

Virginia Ruth Seeley
Virginia Ruth Seeley, 83 of Farber, passed away at 1:35 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 13, 2008 at the Tri-County Care Center in Vandalia.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 16, at Waters Funeral Chapel, Vandalia, with the Rev. Randall Cone officiating. Mu sic will be provided by Shirley Stubblefield, pianist, and Virginia Carlson, soloist. Interment will be in the Barkley Cemetery in New London. Visitation is from noon until service time Tuesday at the funeral chapel.
Pallbearers are Mike Culwell, Howard Reading, Gary Pease, Chuck Bockhorst, Terry Newland and Alan Teacutter.
Mrs. Seeley was born May 23, 1925 in Curryville, the daughter of Raymond Everett and Lola May (Robinson) Holmes.
She married Thomas Elmer Seeley in Bowling Green on Nov. 5, 1944; he preceded her in death on June 11, 1999.
Virginia was a 1943 graduate of the Vandalia High School. After high school, she worked a short time at the Ely Walker Garment Factory in Vandalia and at the ASCS office in Montgomery City. She was a homemaker and long-time member of the Farber Presbyterian Church, which she was very active in. Virginia helped with the Farber Community Betterment and Meals-On-Wheels programs. She enjoyed sewing, camping, traveling and spending time with her grandchildren. Virginia was also good at painting and trimming rooms in many houses.
Survivors include two sons, Roger E. Seeley and friend, Amanda Jenkins of Elsberry, and Thomas E. Seeley of Troy; one daughter, Ruth Etta and husband, Harold Williams of Farber; one sister, Mrs. Ronald (Dorothy) Culwell of Vandalia; five grandchildren, Heather Williams of Farber, Heath and wife, Jennifer Williams, of Farber, Ross Seeley of Iron Station, N.C., Michael Poole of New London and Jonathan Poole of Philadelphia; three great-grandchildren, Mallory Williams, Audrey Williams and Jack Seeley.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Thomas; one son, Raymond Elmer Seeley, who died in infancy.
Memorials are encouraged to the Farber Presbyterian Church or to the Alzheimer’s Association.
Elsie Stone
Elsie Mae Stone, 60, of Mexico, died at 3:20 p.m., Saturday, September 13, 2008, at Audrain Medical Center in Mexico.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Pickering Funeral Home with the Rev. Jerry Ostrom officiating. Visitation will be from 6 until 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery.
Elsie was born on March 6, 1948, in Henley, Mo., a daughter of Woodrow and Lucille Mae (Robinett) Anderson. On August 14, 1965, in Mexico, she married John Stone who survives.
In addition to Mr. Stone, she is survived by two sons, John Stone Jr., and wife Kelly, and Jeff Stone and wife Tana, all of Mexico; three daughters, Tammy Weldon and husband Jim, Teresa Whitworth and husband Troy, and Joyce Groves and husband Jon, all of Mexico; two sisters, Alice Campbell and husband Rick, Mexico, and Glenda Stephenson and husband Sheldon, Lake Ozark; 12 grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by four brothers and two sisters.
She was a member of First Baptist Church.

Marilyn Farrah
Marilyn Kay Farrah, 63, of Mexico, died at 1:14 a.m. Sept. 12, 2008, at University Hospital and Clinics in Columbia.
A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the First Christian Church with the Rev. David Nash officiating. Visitation will be from 6 p.m. until service time at the church. Pickering Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
Ms. Farrah was born on June 23, 1945, in Mexico, the daughter of William Earl and Oneta Pearl Brown Byrd. She was a member of the First Christian Church in Mexico.
Survivors include two daughters, Brenda Atterberry and Barbara Bates, both of Mexico; five grandchildren, April Ann Bates, Samantha Grace Wren, Paula Ann Atterberry, Carl Wayne Atterberry and William Edward Atterberry; two great grandchildren, Jaylen Cortez Johnson and Madasia Raine Breigha Renea Scott; and her extended family at Pin Oaks.
Her parents preceded her in death.

Allene L. Poff
Allene L. Poff, 65 of Concordia, passed away Sept. 12, 2008 at Lutheran Nursing Home.
Services, conducted by Reverend Gary Humphrey, will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 16, at Nilson Funeral Home in Columbia. Visitation will be at 10 a.m. until time of service at the funeral home. Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery.
Mrs. Poff was born May 26, 1923 to Wade and Una Mae Stone Dollens in Centralia. She married Reverend W. Calverin “Cal” Poff on May 25, 1940 in Mexico. He preceded her in death on Jan. 21, 2002. She was a member of the Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Warrensburg.
Survivors include her sons, Gary Wade Poff of Jefferson City and Estil Dean Poff of Columbia; daughter, Donna Pulis, of Concordia; 10 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
She also was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Bill Dollens.

Carl Parrish
PARIS – Carl Parrish, 80, of Madison died Saturday, Sept. 13, 2008, at Moberly Regional Medical Center.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Agnew Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Bethel Cemetery in Holiday.
Visitation is from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Dorothy Rose
VANDALIA – Dorothy Elizabeth Rose, 85, of Curryville, died at 9:22 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 13, 2008, at St. Joseph's Hospital and Clinics, St. Charles.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Waters Funeral Chapel. Burial will be in the Curryville Cemetery.
Visitation is from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral chapel.
