Dorothy M. Hancock, 80, of Columbia dies

Dorothy Marie Hancock, 80 of Columbia, died at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 31, 2010 at her home.
Graveside services will be held Thursday at 1 p.m. at East Lawn Memorial Park in Mexico.
Dorothy was born Oct. 30, 1929 in Oak Grove, La. to Robert L. and Eva Lee Ward. On Aug. 31, 1949 she married James W. Hancock in Poteau, Okla., he preceded her in death on July 26, 1984.
Dorothy is survived by her daughter, Stella Marie Beeson and husband Allen of Columbia; eight grandchildren, Spencer Salmons of Denver, Colo., Bethany Salmons of Columbia, Kashia Salmons Wales of New Market, Tenn., Savannah Salmons of Columbia, Jon Salmons of New Market, Tenn., Brian Salmons of Parker, Colo., Zach Beeson of Kansas City, and Walter Beeson of Columbia; eight great-grandchildren, Brian Salmons Jr., Bryson Salmons, Devlin Wales, Gavin Wales, Austin Salmons, Jon Salmons Jr., Sunny Landon and Gage Landon.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and five brothers and two sisters.
Mrs. Hancock was a resident of Mexico from 1955 until 2007 when she moved to Columbia, Mo. to live with her daughter. She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church and the Little Dixie CB Club.
