Catherine Wehrman Clark
Catherine Wehrman Clark of Montgomery City died suddenly on Sept. 22, 2008 at the Clark family farm. She was born 76 years ago on May 22, 1932 near Montgomery City to Leslie and Gladden Hickerson Wehrman.
On Easter Sunday, April 13, 1952 Catherine married the love of her life, Everett “Star” Clark. For 56 years she was the dedicated farm wife of Everett, who still lives on the farm they built together. Catherine enjoyed the outdoors and was an avid gardener and cook who loved sharing with others. She was a loving wife and mother, a proud grandma and great-grandma and a humble and kind-hearted woman.
For over six decades, Catherine took pleasure in being an active member of 4-H and the Two-Mile Neighbors and Montgomery County Family & Community Education extension clubs.
At an early age she joined the Buell Methodist Church, where she taught Sunday school and played piano and organ up to the day before her passing. Catherine was a faithful member who volunteered countless hours serving in numerous ways.
Those who will miss Catherine dearly include her husband, Everett; daughter, Sally Whanger and husband, Lee, of Atlanta, Ga.; grandchildren, Amanda Hayes and husband, John, of Las Vegas, Nev., Rebecca Avery of Las Vegas, Nev. and Jacob and Sarah Whanger of Atlanta, Ga.; great-grandson, John Hayes III; two brothers, Howard Wehrman and wife, Merle, of Montgomery City and Wendell Wehrman and wife, Karen, of Centralia; multiple nieces and nephews, and a host of friends and neighbors.
She was preceded in death by her parents and three infant sons, who included Merrill Mark and Russell Ray, and brother, Donald Wehrman.
The celebration of her life and mourning of her passing will commence at the visitation from 4-8 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 25 at the Schlanker Funeral Home of Montgomery City. Funeral services will be held on Friday, Sept. 26 at the Buell United Methodist Church at 10 a.m. with Rev. Judy Owens Jeffery officiating. The family will also receive friends an hour prior to the funeral. Burial will be at the Montgomery City Cemetery.

Mitch Kemp
Mitch Kemp, 44 of Columbia, formerly of Mexico, passed away as the result of an apparent homicide.
Visitation will be Friday, Sept. 26 from 5-8 p.m. at the Arnold Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Arnold Funeral Home with the Rev. Robert H. Marty officiating.
Mitch was born Sept. 15, 1964 in Fulton, the son of Carol (Gifford) and David Kemp. He moved with his family to Mexico in 1970 where he attended grade school and Mexico High School. He was on the football team and wrestling squad. While in high school he worked for Hardee’s and at his parents’ business, D and D Decor, where he installed floor coverings.
Mitch loved his family and spent a lot of time with them camping, fishing, attending and watching NASCAR races and all sporting events. He will be sadly missed by those who love him.
He is survived by his mother, Carol Owen and husband, Bob, of Mexico; daughter, Tara Kemp of Columbia; son, Shane Kemp of Columbia; daughter, Lexie Kemp; brother, Tracy Kemp and wife, Mischelle, of Warrenton; sister, Kathy, of Columbia; brother, Rick Kemp and wife, Carol Ann, of Carrollton, Ga.; and grandmother, Mary Ruth Gifford, of Fulton, as well as several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by father, Dave Kemp; paternal grandparents, Marvin and Marie Kemp; and maternal grandfather, Leslie Gifford.

Alicia Schafer Maskey
Alicia Louise Schafer Maskey, 20 of Silverdale, Wash., formerly of Martinsburg, died at 3:39 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 18, 2008 at Bremerton Naval Hospital, Bremerton, Wash.
Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 27, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Martinsburg with Father Greg Oligschlaeger officiating. Greg Wieberg will be organist. Visitation is from 4-8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 26 at Myers Funeral Home, Wellsville, with a prayer service at 8 p.m. Burial will be in Wellsville Cemetery, Wellsville.
Pallbearers are Lucas Bryson, James Davis, Philip Dickel, Brian Maskey, John Maskey, and Brandon Smith.
Honorary pallbearers are Carmen Schafer, Curtis Schafer, Nick Schafer, Paula Schmidt, Scott Slavens and Aaron Smith.
Alicia was born July 8, 1988 in Columbia, the daughter of George Edward Schafer and Diane Louise Reed Schafer.
On Sept. 15, 2007 she married Jason Alan Maskey at the Wellsville Christian Church, Wellsville.
Alicia was a 2007 graduate of Community R-6 High School. She was a homemaker and had worked at St. Joseph Early Learning Center in Martinsburg and also the day care facility in Washington. Prior to moving to Washington with her husband, Jason, who is stationed in the U.S. Navy, she lived in Martinsburg her entire life. She was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Martinsburg.
