John R. “Jack” Napton
John R. “Jack” Napton, 88, was born in Marshall, Mo. He graduated from the Journalism School of University of Missouri, Columbia. He left with the first ship of U.S. Marines to leave San Francisco, Calif. after attending officer’s training at Quantico, Va. and served in the Pacific Theater to the end of World War II. He was discharged as a major.
For 45 years he worked for the Union Pacific Railroad in San Francisco. He became an authority on the plant echerveria and taught a class in Botany earning a lifetime teaching certificate in the state of California. He always had season tickets to the San Francisco Symphony.
Upon retiring from Union Pacific he moved back to Missouri to make a home with his mother, Rebekah Napton.
He is survived by a sister, Mary Napton Searfoss and her husband, Robert L. Searfoss, and many nieces, nephews and wonderful friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, John R. Napton; his mother, Rebekah Boulware Napton; and one brother, William Barkley Napton.

Norma Fern White
Norma Fern White, 81 of Mexico, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 16, 2008 at Audrain Medical Center.
Norma was born Oct. 7, 1926 in Harrisburg to Willard and Cora May (Ellis) Shaw.
She worked at Florsheim Shoe Factory in Mexico and retired from Square D in Columbia. She enjoyed crocheting and quilt making.
Survivors include a son, David White and fiancee, Marylin Thurston, of Mexico; two daughters, Pam White of Mexico and Linda White-Bowers and husband, John, of Centralia; four grandchildren, Dawn Herron-Keith, Robert White, Cindy Bowers-Walker and husband Doug, and Davie White; three great-grandchildren, Ashley Chrisman, Hadley Keith and Nicholas White; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Rixie White; a brother, Eugene Shaw; sisters, Mildred Shaw-Hume and Pauline Jennings; and a grandson, Marc Bowers.

William E. Johnson, 74, of Mexico died at 12:34 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 17, 2008, at Audrain Medical Center.
