Stella Irene Pope
Stella Irene Pope, 80, of Kingdom City, passed away on Tuesday, Feb. 23, 2010, at the Golden Living Center in Mexico.
She was born Dec. 21, 1929, in Jefferson City, the daughter of the late Leslie and Elda Emilie (Becker) Vandeloecht.  On Nov. 26, 1948, in Fulton, she married Joseph L. Pope.  He preceded her in death on Feb. 22, 2009.
She is survived by one son, Michael Pope and wife Terry of Kingdom City; three daughters, Linda Rice and husband David of Mexico, Sherie Troisi and husband Tony of Palm Bay, Fla., and Patricia Hopkins and husband Bruce of Boerne, Texas; four brothers, Robert Vandeloecht and wife Treva, Clifford Vandeloecht and wife Rose, Charles Vandeloecht and wife Joyce, and Ronald Vandeloecht and wife Brenda, all of Fulton; three sisters, Emilie Garnell Hook, Ruby Liddle, and Phyllis Schwallenstecker and husband Richard, all of Fulton. She is also survived by 13 grandchildren, James (Kim), Richard and Paul Rice; Kathryn (Justin) Westphal; Doug (Karah), Darren (Sarah), and Drew (Amy) Pope; Phillip, Anthony, Robert, Steven and Nicholas Vogt; and Jennifer Mattocks. She is survived by 13 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Harold Vandeloecht and Wayne Vandeloecht; and one sister, Bonnie Adams.
Irene had worked as a cook for Hatton-McCredie School. She was a member of Richland Baptist Church and taught pre-school Sunday School for many years. She and her husband loved to square dance with the Callaway Calicos. She had been a member of the Busy Bee's Extension Club. She loved to sew, cook, and enjoyed watching and feeding her hummingbirds.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, Feb. 27, at the Richland Baptist Church in Kingdom City with Rev. Larry Paris officiating. Burial will follow in Richland Baptist Cemetery. Family will receive friends on Friday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Debo Funeral Home in Fulton.
