Phillip Joe  Christopher
LADDONIA - Services for Phillip Joe Christopher, 64, of Fulton, formerly of Laddonia, will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, August 6, 2008 at Laddonia Christian Church with Reverend Bill Nigus officiating. Burial will be in Laddonia Cemetery.
Visitation will be Tuesday evening from 6 to 8 p.m., with a masonic service at 8 p.m., at Bienhoff Funeral Home in Laddonia.
Mr. Christopher passed away at 11:46 a.m. August 2, 2008 at University Hospital in Columbia.
He was born November 24, 1943 in Mexico, the son of Thomas Howard and Josephine Elizabeth Lemasters Christopher.
He was married to Linda Shouse on February 27, 1966 in Mexico and she survives.
Other survivors include two daughters, Lori Lynn Christopher and Amy Lynn Crowe, both of Columbia; one sister and brother-in-law, Mary Ann and Don Kjellerson of Grain Valley; and two grandchildren, Dagan Crowe and Elsa Crowe, of Columbia.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and one son, Aaron Brent Christopher.
Mr. Christopher was a lifetime area resident and member of the Laddonia Christian Church. He was a 1961 graduate of Community R-6 High School and a 1965 graduate of the University of Missouri with a BS in Agricultural Engineering. He served in the US Army from April 26, 1967 to February 2, 1970 and attained the rank of E-5. He lived and farmed in the Laddonia area until he moved to Fulton in 2001. He was a member of the Farm House Fraternity: a member of the Laddonia American Legion Post, a past master of the Laddonia Masonic Lodge; a member of the the Scottish Rite; member of the Little Dixie Shrine Club; a member of the Mexico Hebron Lodge No. 350; past president of the Audrain-Callaway Masonic Association; and a member of the Community R-6 School Board for over a decade. He enjoyed model railroads, golf, travel, family and friends.

Pallbearers will be Bob Schlemmer, Vic Gillespie, Butch Evans, Tom Virden, Ralph Pickerell, and Bruce Ashlock. Honorary pallbearers will be Ron Dowell, Don Kjellerson, John Shouse, and Jim Shouse.

Dennis Whiteman
Dennis Whiteman, 40 of Sedalia, died Sunday, July 27, 2008 at University Hospital in Columbia.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, Aug. 4, 2008 at Antioch Fellowship in Sedalia with Pastor Richie Thomas officiating.
Dennis was born Nov. 3, 1967 in Kansas City and is survived by his mother, Phyllis (Earl) Lawson of Fulton; son, Coty Whiteman of Lamonte; three daughters, Ashley “Tabitha” Whiteman-Bockenstedt, Makayla “Lela” Whiteman-Bockenstedt and Jaiden “Jada” Whiteman-Bockenstedt, all of Mexico; brother, Mike Whiteman of Jefferson City; sister, Teri Burnett of Round Rock, Texas; as well as a niece, Dakota Lawson of Fulton.
Dennis loved his children very much and we all know not only could he play the guitar but he was a kind, gentle, and giving man.

Bettie Jean Duncan
Bettie Jean Duncan, 73, of Mexico, died at 12:15 p.m., Aug. 1, 2008, at University Hospital and Clinics in Columbia.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Tuesday, Aug. 5, 2008, at Pickering Funeral Home with Pastor Jonathan Ingram officiating. Visitation will be held Monday from 6 to 8 p.m., at the funeral home. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery.
Mrs. Duncan was born on March 20, 1935, in Mexico, a daughter of Walter Atley and Lutie Fay Newbrough Young. On Feb. 28, 1953, in Mexico, she married Billie G. Duncan, who survives at the home. She was a member of Kentucky Road Christian Church. She volunteered with 4-H, Girl Scouts, as an aide at Mexico Middle School and Mexico High School and was a volunteer in the Juvenile Office and at Happy House Daycare Center where she later worked as a cook.
In addition to her husband, survivors include one son, Billie G. Duncan Jr. and wife Jennifer of Raymore, a daughter, Sheila R. VanGennip and husband Keith of St. Charles, one brother Charles T. Young and wife Pauline, Centralia; two sisters, Dorothy M. Talbert, Mexico, and Mary Alice Green and husband Jim, Rolling Meadows, Ill.; and three grandchildren, Zoe Renee Duncan, Billy Gene “Trey” Duncan III, and Trinity LynMarie Duncan.
She was preceded in death by her parents, an infant daughter, Marsha Rae, and one brother, Walter Howard Young.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials be given to the Kentucky Road Christian Church or American Cancer Society/Audrain Relay for Life. They may be sent in care of Pickering Funeral Home, 403 N. Western, Mexico, MO 65265

Clara Mae Elsenrath
Clara Mae Elsenrath, age 97 of Fulton, passed away Sunday, August 3, 2008, at the Fulton Presbyterian Manor. She was born December 21, 1910, in Portland, Mo., a daughter of the  late Adolph and Nancy McClatchey Schmid. On August 21, 1948, she was united in marriage to Clarence Elsenrath. He preceded her in death on February 9, 1979.
She will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by one daughter, Doris Schutte and her husband Gerald of Mexico, two grandchildren; Kenneth Schutte and his wife, Diana and Lori Love and her husband, Mike of Mexico, three great-grandchildren; Jarrod Schutte, Nicholas Schutte and his wife, Hailey and Zachary Love, one great-great-grandchild, Zoey Schutte, one sister, Ethel  Mirts of Fulton, two brothers, Herbert Schmid and his wife Alma of Portland and Calvin Schmid and his wife Dorothy of Fulton, one sister in-law, Rosalee Schmid of Fulton several nieces and nephews and many dear friends.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two sisters; Dorothy Haxton and Julia Craighead, one brother, Albert Schmid, one granddaughter, Sandra Schutte, two brothers in-law, Robert Haxton and Turner Craighead.
Clara worked as a teacher’s aide for the Central Institute for the Deaf in St. Louis for many years.  She also worked as a nurse’s aide for the Audrain Hospital in Mexico for several years.  She was a member of the Court Street United Methodist Church and a member of the Nora/Esther/Susanna Circle.  She enjoyed playing cards and dominoes and visiting friends and family.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, August 6, at Maupin Funeral Home in Fulton, Missouri with Reverend Diana Loomis officiating. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, August 5, at Maupin Funeral Home in Fulton. Interment will be held at the Portland Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Portland Cemetery Association or to the Court Street United Methodist Church, c/o Maupin Funeral Home, 301 Douglas Blvd., Fulton, MO 65251. Billy Carroll Jr.
Billy Don Carroll Jr., 39, of Auxvasse died Wednesday, July 30, 2008.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Phillips Funeral Home in Eldon with burial in Tol Wood Cemetery, Eldon.
Visitation is from 10-11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Bill Crouch
WELLSVILLE – James William "Bill' Crouch, 90, of Wellsville died at 3:05 a.m., Sunday, Aug. 3, 2008, at the Golden Living Center/Gamma Road Lodge in Wellsville.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the United Methodist-Presbyterian Church in Wellsville with burial in the Wellsville Cemetery.
Visitation is form 6-8 p.m. Wednesday with a Masonic service at 8 p.m. at Myers Funeral Home, Wellsville.

Alfred Betts
VANDALIA – Alfred L. Betts 99, of the Bowling Green, Vandalia area died at 10:40 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 2, 2008, at the Moore-Pike Nursing Home in Bowling Green.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Water Funeral Chapel, Vandalia, with burial in the Bowling Green Cemetery.
Visitation is from 11 a.m. until service time at the funeral chapel.
