Arthur K. “Art” Gates
LADDONIA-Graveside services for Arthur K. (Art) Gates, 62, of Laddonia will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday October 13, 2009 at Colony Cemetery, Colony, Mo., with Reverend Tommy Barnhart officiating.
Visitation will be Monday evening from 5 to 7 p.m. at Bienhoff Funeral Home in Laddonia.
Mr. Gates passed away at 12:12 a.m. October 9, 2009 at Harry S. Truman Veteran's Hospital in Columbia.
He was born June 6, 1947 in Thomas, Okla., the son of James Arthur and Edna Elizabeth England Gates, who preceded him in death.
Survivors include one son, Phillip (Jo Beth) Brittle of Foley, Ala.; one daughter, Kelley (Todd) Archer of Fayetteville, N.C.; one brother, James Gates of Midwest City, Okla.; three sisters, Nancy Evans and Joy Evans, both of Laddonia, and Opal Marshall of Blackwell, Okla.; and five grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Jesse Gates.
Mr. Gates grew up in the Colony area and then served in the US Air Force where he attained the rank of Sergeant. He was an independent truck driver for over 30 years. He moved to Laddonia four years ago from Tennessee. He attended Laddonia Baptist Church and was a lifetime member of the American Legion Post No. 510. He was noted for his humor and jokes. He enjoyed playing pool and cards.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
Pallbearers will be members of the Laddonia American Legion Post No. 510.
Kathy Miller
Kathleen Dee "Kathy" McKenzie Miller, 57, of Hallsville, passed away Thursday, October 8, 2009 at her home. She was born on March 6, 1952 in Boone County, the daughter of the late James Daniel and Eva Mae (Shern) McKenzie.
Survivors include her children, Ryan Miller, Jeremy Miller and Alison Miller (Dominic Petty); sisters, Carlene Griggs (Butch), June Travis (Jerry), Marilyn Campbell and Suzie Teel (Mike); grandchildren, Alexia, Brianna and Aaliyah Petty and Adeline Miller and several nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by grandson, Dorian Petty.
Kathy was an outdoor enthusiast and master gardener. Her years of employment included AB Chance, Quaker Oats, 3M and Route B Green House. Kathy was a very strong, selfless and independent woman who spent her life caring for others. She was very dedicated to her family and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Funeral services were held on Monday, October 12, 2009 at 11 a.m. at Memorial Funeral Home. Burial followed in Friendship Cemetery in Hallsville. Visitation was held on Monday from 9 a.m. until service time at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Shriners Hospital for Crippled Children.

Jimmy Lovelady
Jimmy Lovelady, 73, of Paris, died Saturday, Oct. 10, 2009, at his home.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Agnew Funeral Home in Paris. Burial will be in Walnut Grove Cemetery.
Visitation is from 3-8 p.m., Tuesday at the funeral home.
Nathaniel 'Nate' Dillon
Nathaniel Bryant "Nate" Dillon, 28, of St. Charles County, died Sunday, Oct. 11, 2009, at Boone Hospital Center, Columbia.
Memorial services will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Schlanker Funeral Home in Montgomery City.
Visitation is from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
