For the 26-2/14-2 host Owls, Mexico’s Rachel Baker had 16P/10R/6S/2A and three blocks; Whitney Widaman, also from Mexico, posted 9P/3R/2S/4A for the 26-4/14-2 Lady Cougars. With her two steals, Widaman set a new single-season steal record with 94. Fellow senior Whitney Davis set the record back in 2007-08 with 93 steals in a season. Widaman sits just three steals shy of breaking the career steal record as she currently sits at 302 steals in her career. Widaman also scored her 1,500th career point, finishing and bringing her career total to 1,502.
HIGH SCHOOLS: Also over the weekend, Van-Far outscored visiting Community R-6 girls 29-23 in the second half for a 47-42 EMO victory. Jordan Spradling hit a trio of 3-pointers en route to 20P for the Lady Indians, who got 16P from Leah Johnson as well. For the 13-11/4-5 Lady Trojans, Shelby Curtis had 18P, Pam Bertels 9P and Megan Gastler 7P. CR6 led 19-18 at halftime.
Centralia boys moved to 15-9 with a 64-48 home win over 19-6 Fayette. The Panthers, who led 26-13 at halftime, got 15P from Holden Meyers, 14P from Aaron Kroeger and 13P from Nic Ford.
Home against Mid-Mo rival Southern Boone, North Callaway boys bowed 57-52 in a game tied at 41 with four minutes to go. Brendan Borman led all scorers with 21P, making four 3-pointers; Keaton Oestreich added 12P for the 14-10/6-4 Thunderbirds. The Eagles finished the regular season at 17-7 and 10-0.
