The Missouri Military Academy junior varsity football team battled Hallsville's JV through three quarters before falling 31-18 Monday in their season opener at MMA.
"I think our players played very hard and had a lot of fun," said MMA coach Capt. Toby Henry. "It was a close game until the end of the fourth quarter."
MMA scorers included receiver Quinton Eldridge on a pass from quarterback Alex Belton; Samuel Udeh and Belton on rushing plays.
Defensive leaders for the Colonels included Christian Osborne, Nick Mabbs, Joshua Pearson, Travis Skinner and Federico Del Real.
The Colonels next visit Mexico JV for a 6 p.m. kickoff Thursday, Sept. 16.
