Mexico High School tennis girls saw their varsity record fall to 1-1 after Thursday’s 9-0 loss in their home opener.
“Helias is an incredibly solid team that is well-coached,” MHS coach Jan Hoth noted. “The bright spot was how they exposed what we  need to work on; there’s nothing more powerful than instant feedback from an opponent to make you change what you are doing.”
Abby Orscheln and Liesl Walser gave the Lady Bulldogs their closest encounter in a 10-8 No. 1 doubles match. Morgan Swopes played to within 10-7 in No. 6 singles.
Kaitlyn Brooks and Lena Grubert were Mexico’s only winning duo in a 9-7 JV final.
