Mexico’s Kevin Duncan was among 305 bowlers from around the world, representing some 25 countries, competing in the 2012 USBC Masters in Henderson, Nev., the week of Jan. 23-30.
Duncan finished tied for 86th place at the Brunswick Strike Zone at Sunset Station Hotel and Casino. He missed winning any money by 20 pins after 10 games of qualifying.
“But the experience of competing against the best bowlers in the world was awesome,” he said.
Duncan won entry into the event by placing second in the 2011 Missouri state tournament in the scratch all-events category. The Missouri USBC Association paid his entry to Nevada, sending the top two placers to the Masters.
The winner was Mike Fagan of Dallas, who beat Chris Barnes, Double Oak, Texas, in the final match 246-213 to pocket $50,000. The finals were broadcast live on ESPN.
The Masters is one of four majors on the PBA Tour; it’s also a part of the World Bowling Tour organized by the World Tenpin Bowling Association.
