Centralia to play for title

CLASS 3/DISTRICT 6: Of Ledgerland’s 17 high school basketball squads starting postseason play, only Centralia boys remain alive as small-school tournaments await their title games this weekend.
The 12-9 Panthers, seeded second behind 20-6 Elsberry at Bowling Green, turned back the third-seeded host Bobcats 46-39 Thursday night. Elsberry advanced with a 59-41 decision over fifth seed North Callaway. Tipoff Saturday is 7 p.m. 
Centralia led 13-7, 27-25 and 34-30 at the quarters. Nic Ford was high scorer for the Panthers with 11P; Ryan Cox had 17P for Bowling Green.
NorCal shot just 14 percent from the field in the first half, falling behind 28-6 by halftime after the Indians outscored the 15-11 Thunderbirds 20-2 in the second period.
Brendan Borman scored all 13 of his points after halftime to lead the T-Birds; Jake Lasley added 7P/7R and Dominic Perrigo 7R. Scott Kroeger led Elsberry with 22P.
CLASS 2/DISTRICT 6: At Louisiana, the host Bulldogs surprised No. 1 seed Paris 78-66 and end the Coyotes’ run at 18-5. Fifth-seeded Louisiana (12-12) faces No. 2 seed Canton (13-14) in Saturday’s 7:30 p.m. championship contest.
