NORTH CALLAWAY: Thursday at Rhineland against winless Hermann, the varsity Ladybirds prevailed 18-0 in 4 innings, mixing in reserves after scoring 5 runs in the first. Kayla Haley (7-2) threw a no-hitter for 12-5 NorCal, recording 11 of her 12 outs by strikeouts, while walking 1 and hitting 1. Mackenzie McGrath went 3-for-4 for the Ladybirds with 2 doubles, 1 run scored and 6 RBI. Meagan Thurman hit a 2-run homer in the fourth and Kelyn Mayer was 2-for-2 with 1 run scored and 3 RBI. In the JV game, North Callaway won 11-2 with Elizabeth Garrard hitting a 3-run homer in the fourth for the 7-2 Ladybirds.

CENTRALIA: In a Thursday showdown for the CCC title, Palmyra blanked host Lady Panthers 10-0. Taylor Baxter was the winning pitcher for 17-2/7-0 Palmyra, striking out 10 and walking 1, while Amber Duncan suffered her first setback in 9 decisions for Centralia, 18-3 overall. Felicia McCann went 2-for-3 for Centralia, while Emily Koster doubled and Jordan Meyers also was 1-for-3.

COMMUNITY R-6: Home against EMO rival Wellsville-Middletown, the Lady Trojans snapped a 1-1 tie with 2 runs in the fifth to prevail 3-1 Thursday and even their and Ashley Curtis’ record at 9-9. W-M took the lead with Amy Gangloff’s triple in the third, only to see Shelby Curtis answer with a homer for CR6 in the bottom of the inning. Then in the fifth, Lena Uebinger drove in the go-ahead run and Shelby Curtis bunted Uebinger home to close the scoring. Brooke Evans and Haly Knipfel had 2 hits for the Lady Trojans; Ashley Curtis fanned 11 and Morgan Shramek of the Lady Tigers struck out 8, neither giving up a walk.

PARIS: After bowing 1-0 Tuesday to Westran, giving the home team its sixth straight L&C championship, the Lady Coyotes surrendered a ninth-inning run Thursday at Salisbury to suffer a 2-1 league setback. Kayla Redmon was the pitcher for Paris (6-10/2-3) in both games.
