MHS SOCCER: Monday at Ashland, the Bulldogs came out on the short end of a 1-0 varsity score against Southern Boone, which scored in the first half.
“We started out moving the ball well and having great offensive production for about the first 10 minutes of the game,” MHS coach Bryan Keim said. “Then we started to play sluggishly and didn’t have many scoring opportunities after that. We also gave up our goal during that down time.
“The second half was a different story. We played hard, we played together and unselfishly, and we kept the ball on the offensive side of the field for most of the second half,” he added. “We started a new scheme, the fourth different set-up we’ve tried this year, and it seemed to really work. I think the guys will adapt to this formation and we will start putting the ball in the net.”
Casey Bedford was in goal for Mexico and made 6 saves. Matt Wilson was the No. 9 player of the game for the 3-9 Bulldogs.
“I was very proud of the effort my guys gave the last 10 minutes of the game,” the MHS coach said. “They worked their tails off trying to put the ball in the net.”
One half of a JV game ended in a scoreless tie. Clayton Littrell was Mexico’s No. 9 player of the game.
