PARIS GIRLS: The Lady Coyotes improved their record to 9-6 with a 14-5 first quarter and a 17-9 third period. Paris advanced to the finals for the second year in a row by beating South Callaway.
“This was a dog fight from start to finish and easily our most complete game of the season,” PHS coach Chris Willingham said. “We finished strong, hitting eight of 11 shots from the field and six of nine free throws in the fourth quarter.”
Berlyn Seitz put up 32 points for the Lady Bulldogs, who trailed just 26-24 at halftime.
“We couldn’t stop her, but we had an answer for every shot she hit,” the PHS coach noted. “Our effort was outstanding; we had 50 rebounds, created several turnovers and were relentless on the offensive end.”
For Paris, Amanda DeOrnellas made 11 of 18 field-goal attempts and totaled 24P/17R/2S/3A plus seven blocks. Tessa Henderson went 7-for-14 from the floor for 19P/10R/6A, hitting a pair of 3-pointers. Paige Dye added 9P, while Whitnie Barr was 3-for-3 from the field for 6P and fellow reserve Andriel Culbertson also contributed.
CR6 GIRLS: The Lady Trojans trailed the host team 22-11 after eight minutes and 46-20 after 16 in falling to 7-7. Sturgeon moved to 12-3 as four Lady Bulldogs reached double figures.
