Almost everytime a Mexico High School wrestler took to the mat Thursday night, you could hear the Bulldog cash register ring – six points, six points, six points, etc.
In other words, the varsity home match was all Bulldogs as Mexico evened its overall dual record at 3-3 with a 60-16 romp over non-conference foe the Hickman Kewpies.
“There was a large crowd in Gooch Gym and Bulldog fans were not disappointed,” MHS coach Nick Hoth observed. “We were able to come out ahead in a big win and again it was a team effort.
“Our boys are starting to wrestle tough now and I look for that to build into district and state.”
Mexico dropped only one match where both teams fielded an entry. Otherwise, the Bulldogs pinned their way to victory in their second consecutive dual triumph, posting six wins by pin.
Next action for the Bulldogs will come Saturday in the Odessa Invitational, starting at 9 a.m.
“We travel to Odessa this weekend for one of the toughest tournaments of the year and are home again Tuesday for Senior Night against our NCMC rival Fulton,” Hoth noted.
