CR6 led 17-9, 28-15 and 38-31 at the quarters before exiting with a 9-14 record. Colt Carper paced 12-14 Canton with 25 points, while Zak Allen scored 9P, Brian Arens 9P, Josh Wilson 8P and Jamie Becker 8P for the Trojans. Stephan Schafer pulled down 8R, Allen and Arens 5R apiece and Chance Evans 4R for Community R-6, while Evans and Wilson both had 3A and Arens 3S.
“Our boys played a pretty good game,” CR6 coach James Benson said. “We executed our game plan extremely well in the first half and were able to dictate the tempo of the game.
“In the second half, Canton’s pressure got to us and we turned the ball over too many times and missed free throws in crucial situations. We were able to keep the lead until about three minutes left in the fourth quarter. I’m extremely proud of how hard the boys fought and didn’t quit. Our team never gave up.”
Thursday’s semifinals match Canton vs. Silex at 6 p.m., then Paris and Louisiana at 7:30.
CLASS 3/DISTRICT 6: At Bowling Green, boys squads also made their quarterfinal debuts. Scores were No. 1 Elsberry 64, Missouri Military Academy 43; No. 2 Centralia 63, Wright City 38; No. 3 Bowling Green 68, Montgomery County 55; North Callaway 53, No. 4 Mark Twain 48.

“In the second quarter, we decided we weren’t going to play any defense,” NCHS coach Tim Turlington said. “Then we decided otherwise. Whenever you guard somebody, you’re a lot better.”
For the 15-10 T-Birds, Jake Lasley had 18P/8R, Brendan Borman 15P and Keaton Oestreich 8P/6A. David Stark topped 17-7 Mark Twain with 22P.
