Of Ledgerland’s seven football-playing high schools, three made the first round of this year’s MSHSAA playoffs. The same trio awaits second-round action as well.
While Mexico is playing host to NCMC rival Fulton at 7 p.m. Monday in a Class 3 sectional, Centralia will be home for post-season rival Blair Oaks in Class 2 and Paris takes on Valle Catholic in Ste. Genevieve in Class 1.
Ranked No. 1 again, Centralia moved to 11-0 Wednesday with a 55-8 home decision over South Callaway. Twenty-six points in the second quarter gave Centralia a 40-0 halftime lead en route to a 328-115 edge in total yards.
Scott Rodgers completed 9 of 12 passes for 180 yards and 3 touchdowns. Nic Ford caught 2 TDs and Holden Meyers 1.
Dane Bramon scored twice on the ground, Joel Bohlmeyer and Dakyn Dollens once apiece. Meyers also had a 54-yard punt return for a TD, while Ford picked off 2 passes.
Playing Wednesday at Perryville, Paris also scored in every quarter, allowing St. Vincent all of its points in the second period to lead 21-14 at the half. Alex Thomas completed 16 of 24 passes for Paris for 216 yards and connected with Jon Gilliam for 3 TDs. Gilliam caught 8 passes for 139 yards. Tyler Dunlap picked off 2 passes for the Coyotes, returning one 32 yards into the end zone.
