Posted

Mexico baseball could breathe easier on Saturday afternoon.

After playing four straight one-run games, the Bulldogs beat Oak Grove 10-4 at home for their third win in a row, tallying 11 hits along the way. Four Bulldogs each had multiple hits.

Drew DeMint went 2-for-5 with three RBI and two doubles, Kaden Benne was 2-for-3 with a two-RBI double, Tyson Carr was 3-for-4 with a RBI double, and Sam Ryan finished 2-for-4 with three runs scored.

After turning a 6-4-3 double play in the fifth inning to squash a one-out, bases-loaded situation for Oak Grove (4-3), Mexico (7-6) added to its 5-1 lead starting in the bottom of the fifth inning with a two-RBI double by DeMint and then added run-scoring doubles from Benne and Carr.

Austin Maxwell pitched six innings with seven strikeouts, five walks, four hits and three runs.

Mexico hosts Class 3 North Callaway (6-3) at 5 p.m. Monday.
