Exercise Tiger honors those who gave all

The Exercise Tiger Foundation held its annual ceremony to honor the soldiers who served and perished in the World War II exercise.  This year also marked the 80th anniversary of the event.

The exercise was supposed to help officials plan and prepare the invasion on Normandy Beach for D-Day.  However, German u-boats intercepted the exercise and attacked, making it the deadliest battle, next to Pearl Harbor. Six young men from Audrain County died that day.

Audrain County is home to the memorial as well as the 16 miles of highway known as the “Exercise Tiger” Highway.
