The City of Mexico’s Annual Spring Cleanup is just around the corner and city officials stress that city residents be aware that guidelines will be strictly enforced in order for certain items to be picked up during the 2024 Spring Cleanup. Items must be properly bundled, bagged, boxed or strapped together and shall not exceed four inches in length and not exceed more than 50 pounds.

Piles of loose items and small home project construction debris will not be picked up unless the items are bundled, bagged or boxed. If an item is not a bulky item such as a couch, chair, stool, bed frame, mattress, headboard, appliances, etc., it must be packaged for easy handling by Dayne’s Waste Disposal, Inc. work crews. Loose items that are scattered, stacked or piled will not be picked up.

Mexico’s Annual Spring Cleanup will be held on Saturdays during the month of April. Current residential refuse customers with a regular pickup day of Tuesday, Wednesday, or Friday, will have a cleanup day of Saturday, April 6; those with a regular trash pickup day of Monday or Thursday will have a cleanup day of Saturday, April 13.

Here are requirements

  • All items must be placed at the curb no earlier than the night before or by 6 a.m. on the assigned days. To avoid a nuisance, do not place out any earlier.
  • Place items to be picked up at the curb.
  • Small items must be placed in trash cans, trash bags, sturdy boxes or other containers no larger than a garbage can. Small loose items will not be picked up!

Please place the tag in a protected covering to prevent weather damage. If the tag cannot be read, the appliance will not be picked up.
