It might have been cold outside Friday night, but inside the Mexico High School Sports Complex, the MHS Bulldogs and Lady Bulldogs were hot as both teams were victorious over the Marshall Owls.
The Mexico Bulldogs silenced the Marshall Owls 63-20 on Winterwarming night on the Gary Filbert Court. The win improves the Bulldogs to 16-3 on the season and a perfect 7-0 in the NCMC.
The Bulldogs jumped on the Owls early and often on Friday night as they outscored the Owls 19-5 in the first quarter and 17-5 in the second quarter to lead at the half 36-10. The Bulldogs continued to defend in the second half to post their 16th victory of the season. The Bulldogs defense is getting stingy as they held the Owls to only five points per quarter. Coach Brennnan Scanlon was pleased with how the Bulldogs are communicating on defense which leads to great offensive execution. Jake Willer and Jon Anderson both had big nights as Willer scored 25 points and Anderson contributed 15 points.
The Bulldogs go on the road the next four games and come back home the last week of the regular season. Jaeon Nunnelly scored 6 points, Cole Jaramillo 5, Jake Anderson points and 11 rebounds, Tyler Bracht 4 points, and Matt Ridgway with 2 points and 8 rebounds and Skylar Harrington added 2 points.
The Bulldogs will have a big District test on Tuesday night as they travel to Helias to take on the Crusaders. Tip-off for the Junior Varsity contest is set for 6 p.m. with the varsity game to follow.

JUNIOR VARSITY: The JV team also crushed the Owls 58-26.
High scorers for Mexico were: James Norton 22 points, Skylar Harrington, Markail Williams, Kamden Ekern, 6 points each, Tyler Bracht, Malik Holman, Wesley Oetting, 4 points each, and D'Milo Nunnelly and Brady Jacobi added 3 points each.
The JV team, 9-1 overall and 6-1 in conference will play Tuesday at Helias.
The Lady Bulldogs played a solid game as a team Friday at home against the Marshall Lady Owls. The Lady Bulldogs kept the Lady Owls to 2 points in the third quarter.
"We played a very controlled game, defensively and played solid as a team," stated MHS coach Ed Costley. "Kelli Ingrum was a big presence for us inside helping us establish control of the lane," added the coach. Remington Greenwell was able to get back on scoring track with some outside shooting.
Marshall only missed one free throw and were 10/11 while Mexico was 15/22 at the line.
Mexico plays at home again on Tuesday against California.
