Elizabeth "Betty" D. Beer, 92, of Dallas, Texas died at 12:42 a.m., Sunday, March 24, 2013 at Presbyterian Hospital in Dallas.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m., Tuesday, April 2, at Pickering Funeral Home. Visitation will be from noon until time of service. Burial will be in Centralia Cemetery.
Betty was born November 25, 1920 in Montpelier, Ohio to Virgil and Lula "Lou" (Jones) Dixon. She was married for a few years to Ralph D. Beer.
She graduated from the University of Missouri in Columbia with a bachelor's degree in education and was a 50 year member of the Alpha Chi Omega Sorority. She worked in the personnel department for Atlas Power Company and Neiman Marcus in Dallas, she also had been personnel manager at the three Lowenstein stores in Memphis. She also had operated Beer and Associates Personnel in Tulsa, Ok. for several years.
Betty was a lifelong Republican and patron of the arts. She loved to travel and had traveled extensively with her daughter. She was President of the Oklahoma State Association of personnel services. She was once named American Business Women's Association Business Woman of the Year (Tulsa Chapter).
She was preceded in death by her parents, and two brothers, D.V. Dixon and J.J. Dixon.
Survivors include one daughter, Bettina Lou Beer of Dallas, Texas; two nephews, Mike Dixon and wife Peggy of Elsberry; Ron Dixon and wife Cynthia of Cory, N.C.; two nieces, Donna Dixon Frede and husband Jim of Lake Ozark, Mo, and Kathy Dixon of Kingston Springs, Tenn.
The family suggests memorials to the American Heart Association or the American Cancer Society. They may be sent in care of Pickering Funeral Home, 403 N. Western, Mexico, MO 65265.
