Teams win vs. California

After several cancellations due to snow, the Mexico High School baseball boys finally played their second game of the season Friday, which in fact was a makeup game from March 23.
Friday afternoon the Bulldogs traveled to California and brought home victories in both varsity and junior varsity action.
The first three innings of the varisty game were scoreless. Mexico scored first in the fourth inning with 2 runs. The Pintos came back in the fifth scoring their only run of the game. The Bulldogs scored again in the seventh with 2 runs.
The winning pitcher for Mexico was Gavin Jones who pitched four innings, struck out 4 and allowed no walks. Cody Creed got the save, pitching three innings, had 7 strikeouts and walked one.
Defensively the Bulldogs did well, but Coach Keith Louder says his team needs to capitalize on runs when they have men on base. The Bulldogs left 11 men on base while the Pintos left four in base.
"We need to figure out a way to get those players to score," said Louder. He added the game was closer than it should have been. On the offense, Dylan Nance was 2-4 with 3 RBI and a 2-run homerun. Cody Creed and Matt Ridgway were 2-3 and Tyler Bracht was 1-3.
The Bulldogs are 1-1 on the season.
JUNIOR VARSITY: The JV team won 12-2. Thomas Clay was the winning pitcher. Spencer Thomas was 2-2 with a single and triple; Tyler Warmbrodt was 1-2, Matt Brown and Scott Speaks were 1-1 each.
Varsity and junior varsity have three home games this week. They play Tuesday against Boonville; Thursday against Fulton and Friday against Southern Boone.
