First snow of 2014 arrives in Mexico

Mexico are area residents woke up this morning to return to work after the New Year’s holiday to find a blanket of snow covering the ground and roads.
According to city workers clearing the roads and sidewalks around the village square, they have been working since 5 a.m. today and the street crews began working at 8 p.m. Wednesday.
Unofficially the first snow of 2014 dropped approximatley 2 1/2 to 3 inches fell in parts of Mexico overnight with the lows dipping into the teens.
According to the National Weather Service the temperature at 6 a.m. today was 11 degrees, but felt much colder due to the wind. According to the weather service temperatures will be very cold today with the high near 13 degrees. It will also be windy with northwest winds around 14 miles per hour, with gusts as high as 24. This could cause some drifting in rural areas. Tonight the temperatures will drop to a -3 degrees.
Friday’s temperature will be near 27, but the wind child values will be as low as -10.
The next possibility of snow is Saturday when there is a 30 percent chance during the day and 50 percent Saturday night.
