Mexico cross country teams place second at home meet

In their final event leading up to the postseason, the Mexico cross country teams each placed second in the Autumn Classic held at Green Estates.

The girls team had five medalists in the race, led by Moenaisa Sidique who placed 11th in 21 minutes, 42 seconds. Other medalists were Sidney Turlington (12th, 22:00), Anna Fairchild (15th, 22:27), Kalea Henneberry (16th, 22:29) and Kali Turlington (19th, 22:43).

Alo running for the girls team were Haley Chastain (31st, 24:02) and Miriam Gleeson (50th, 26:31).

In the boys race, Mexico was led by Guy Fairchild in 12th in 18:22. The squad had three other medalists in Thomas Peuster (13th, 18:27), Tyler Quinlan (14th, 18:32) and Geoffrey Penn (15th, 18:38). Others competing for the Bulldogs were Nathan Bull (22nd, 19:20), Race Azdell (23rd, 19:23) and Manny Ramirez (34th, 20:16).

The St. Dominic girls won the team title with 54 points, 14 ahead of the Bulldogs. Marion County’s Delaney Straus won the race in 19:42.24. Helias won the boys title, led by individual champion Payton Kirchoff who won in 17:04.43.

Two of Mexico’s three boys runners medaled in the junior varsity race. They were William Bingham (10th, 20:22) and Mekhi Owens (12th, 21:00).
Micah DaVolt placed 17th in 21:59.
