North Callaway girls beat Wright City

North Callaway improved to 6-14 last Tuesday night with a 37-25 win over Wright City, led by a 15-point night from freshman Abrielle Burgher. Callaway jumped out to a 14-7 lead after the first quarter and took a 19-9 lead into the intermission, holding Wright City to two second-quarter points.

Callaway coach Morgan Beamer credited her team for playing well on both offense and defense.

Burgher was the only Thunderbird in double-digit scoring, adding 6 steals. Makenna Allen had 7 rebounds, Jalyn Leible had 7 points; and Ryelle Schmauch had 5 points and 6 steals.

“I’m very happy with the good conference win,” Beamer said.

Callaway is now 3-4 in Eastern Missouri (EMO) Conference play.

Jasmin Simpson led Wright City with 18 points.
