Van-Far rallies to beat North Callaway girls
It was the tale of two halves Wednesday night as the Van-Far girls came from behind to defeat North Callaway 41-34 on Callaway’s home court.
Callaway led 24-18 at the half, but was outscored 23-10 in the second half as the Indians collected the win, improving to 3-3 on the season and 2-0 in the Eastern Missouri (EMO) Conference.
The Indians were led by Devyn Keller, who had 15 points; Panna Connaway had 10.
Freshman guard Abrielle Burgher led Callaway with 20 points and 5 steals.
Van-Far was lights-out from the free-throw line hitting 10-for-12 from the line in the fourth quarter and converting on 18 of 25 total attempts. Callaway was 7-for-12 from the line.
Callaway stands at 1-8 and 1-2 in conference play. No. 7 North Callaway draws No. 2 seed Hermann Monday night in the South Callaway Tournament. They play at 6:30 p.m. in the high school gym.

North Callaway won a 13-6 abbreviated two-quarter game over Van-Far, collecting their first win of the season. The victory improves Callaway to 1-4. It was the first game of the 2020-21 campaign for Van-Far, a team that’s been impacted by COVID-19.
North Callaway hosts Centralia Monday in junior varsity play, beginning at 6 p.m.
