Joseph Miller, Jr., 68, of Mexico, passed away at 6:45 a.m. on Tuesday, October 10, 2017 at the University of Missouri Hospital in Columbia.
Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 21, at Arnold Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery.
Visitation is Saturday from 11:00 a.m. until time of service at the funeral home.
Joseph was born August 19, 1949 in Mexico, the son of Joseph Washington Miller Sr. and Eva Grace Smith.
Mr. Miller had worked at Audrain Medical Center for 15 years and then for John Deere in Davenport, Iowa. He was a member of Second Missionary Baptist Church.
Joseph loved fishing, camping, travelling and spending time with his family. He also enjoyed DJing and making great music.
Survivors include his companion, Kathy Scott of Mexico; one daughter, Cheryl (Orlando) Miller of Columbia; three grandchildren, Takyra Miller of Columbia, Saterika Miller of Columbia, and Demario Miller of Kansas City; a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins; a host of great-grandchildren, great-nieces and great-nephews; one brother, Bobby Ray Smith (Ann Bruce) of Mexico; and four sisters, Sharon “Shakey” Miller of Mexico, Cheryl Faye Miller of Columbia, JoAnn (Willie) Thomas of Mexico, and Telitha Miller (Charles) of Mexico. Joseph was known as Uncle Jo to many.
Joseph was preceded in death by his parents; an infant daughter, Tresa Jo Miller; two brothers, Melvin McPike and Gregory Miller; one nephew, Jamie Miller; one niece, Stacy Miller; one great-niece and two great-nephews, including KyRiel Whitford.
