On Sunday, October 29, at approximately 6:19 p.m., the Mexico Public Safety Department responded to the area of Monroe and Western (U.S. Highways 22 and 15) in reference to a crash involving a pedestrian. Responding personnel found that a 14- year-old female was crossing Monroe Street and ran into a 2008 Hyundai which had just completed a turn through the intersection and was proceeding westbound on Monroe.
The Hyundai was being driven by Cheryl Johnston, 30, of Centralia, and the vehicle suffered minor damage. Johnston was not injured.
The juvenile complained of pain in her knee and her mother took her from the scene, stating they would seek medical attention on their own.
