On Thursday night in the girls winners bracket of the Madison varsity basketball tournament, Community R-6 went 11-for-46 from the floor while holding Madison to 11-for-43.

While the Lady Trojans did make 3-of-8 three pointers compared to just 2-of-10 for the Lady Panthers, evening out that stat was the fact they went just 5-for-11 from the free throw line compared to 12-for-19 for their hosts. Because both teams even managed to grab 19 rebounds, what it all came down to was bench scoring, which Madison won 36-5 to outlast CR-6 36-30.

Community R-6 was in control during the first half of this contest with leads of 11-3 in the first quarter and 15-11 in the second. Madison then came out after the break with a renewed spirit and worked its way to a 25-15 scoring advantage to come out on top. This included 12-7 in the third and 13-8 in the fourth.

Even though this game wasn't as dynamic as some might have liked, the Lady Trojan still got 10 points, four rebounds, four steals, two steals and one block, Alissa Curtis came through with eight points, six boards and three steals and Delaney Bowers had six points and four rebounds. Delanie Windman also posted five points, five rebounds, two steals and one assist, Taren Clark added six boards, two steals and one point and Chelsea Hoyt had two steals and two assists.

For the game CR-6 had 13 steals, seven assists and two blocks. The squad also had 17 turnovers compared to jusdt four for Madison.
