On March 2nd-3rd Mexico High School hosted the Missouri State High School Activities Association District Speech, Debate, One Act and Readers Competition.
For the third year in a row, Mexico qualified both their One Act Play and Readers Theatre to State. In addition, MHS qualified in five individual events. Results include Riley Given- Humorous, Riley Given and Morghan Rowe- Duet Acting, Emma Chedwick- Poetry, Grant Norfleet- Storytelling and Jackie Calaluce- U.S. Extemporaneous Speaking. The One Act, Humorous and Duet were all District Champions.
On March 8 part of the Mexico Speech and Debate Team competed at the NSDA (National Speech and Debate Association) Districts in St. Louis, which is a National Qualifying Tournament. For the second year in a row sophomore Riley Given qualified for Nationals in Humorous Interpretation and Duo Interpretation with Morghan Rowe. Due to the NSDA rules, he's only allowed to compete in one of the two events. He chose Duet.
