The second round of games got off to a blazing start at Montgomery County Tuesday night in Class 3, District 7, action as Hallsville, 16-4 overall, downed Bowling Green, 5-13 overall, 12-1 in six innings to set the stage for the big showdown that was to follow.

In a much awaited rematch of an Eastern Missouri Conference game North Callaway won on this same field in extra innings during the regular season, the host Wildcats were able earn themselves a 10-4 lead after six innings of play when the game was suspended for lightning. Once play resumed, what began as a light rain quickly became a much heavier rain and every play was effected by it until the umpire suspended play once again after about three batters.

The Thunderbirds, who are listed as the home team, biggest problem in this contest is that they stranded 13 runners.

This contest was concluded at Montgomery County on Wednesday followed by the title game featuring the winner against Hallsville several hours later.

In other news for North Callaway, starting pitcher Ben Bradley injured his arm when he started the win at Montgomery County during the regular season and is now scheduled to have Tommy John surgery in early June.
